About
The Stanford Geologic Hydrogen Industrial Affiliates Program brings together leading researchers across geoscience, engineering, and energy systems to advance the discovery, evaluation, and scalable development of natural and stimulated geologic hydrogen.
Our research integrates field measurements, laboratory experiments, subsurface modeling, machine learning–driven prospectivity analysis, rock physics, and techno-economic assessment to reduce exploration risk and accelerate commercialization. We focus on understanding hydrogen generation, migration, trapping, stimulation, and production within real-world geologic systems.
The program is designed to support industry members with rigorous science, quantitative tools, and practical insight. Members gain early access to research results, direct engagement with faculty and students, and opportunities to connect subsurface hydrogen resources to the broader hydrogen value chain, including transport, storage, and end-use economics.
Our mission is to enable informed investment, responsible development, and scalable deployment of geologic hydrogen as a low-carbon energy resource.
